UP NEET UG Counselling: Rules and Process from Registration to Admission Announced

The Directorate General of Medical Education and Training, Uttar Pradesh, has laid down the rules and process for UP NEET UG state quota counselling. Candidates must register online by paying a non-refundable fee of Rs 2,000 and submit the required security deposit for choice filling.
What is UP NEET UG Counselling?
UP NEET UG Counselling is a state-level process conducted by the Directorate General of Medical Education and Training (Uttar Pradesh) for admission to 85 percent state quota MBBS and BDS seats in government and private medical and dental colleges, including minority institutions. The remaining 15 percent seats are filled through All India Quota (AIQ) counselling.
Registration Details and Fee
Candidates must enter their personal active mobile number and email ID during online registration, as all important updates, OTPs, and notifications will be sent to them. A non-refundable online registration fee of Rs 2,000 must be paid to participate in the counselling.
Document Verification and Reservation Rules
- Candidates must select a nodal centre of their convenience during online registration and upload required documents on the website for verification.
- OBC and EWS reservation certificates must be issued on or after 1 April 2026 in the format prescribed by the Uttar Pradesh government.
- Certificates issued for Central Government appointments are not valid for this counselling.
- Reserved category candidates from outside Uttar Pradesh will be treated under the unreserved category.
- SC and ST candidates are advised to keep updated certificates ready for online verification.
Security Deposit Details
To participate in choice filling after registration, candidates must submit a security deposit online. The Department of Medical Education and Research (DMER) clarified that this security deposit will not be adjusted against tuition fees. It will be refunded to the same bank account used for payment if the candidate is not allotted a seat or is eligible for a refund. Therefore, candidates are advised to pay using their own bank account.

Choice Filling and Free Exit Rule
- Candidates must choose only those institutes where they genuinely wish to take admission.
- Locking the choices within the specified time is mandatory. Candidates who fail to lock choices will automatically be excluded from the seat allotment process.
- No modifications are permitted once the choices are locked.
- Candidates who are allotted a seat in the first round can opt for 'Free Exit' if they do not wish to take admission. Their security deposit will be refunded, and they can participate again in the second or third rounds.
Admission Process After Seat Allotment
- Candidates allotted seats in government medical or dental colleges must visit the allotted college directly to complete admission formalities.
- Candidates allotted seats in private medical and dental colleges must complete their admission process at a nodal centre designated by the Uttar Pradesh government.
